Dental X-Rays

Digital x-rays are a diagnostic tool that provide details on non-visible dental problems. Digital x-rays have significantly lower levels of radiation than traditional dental x-rays. In addition to the safer radiation levels, Lafayette Dental Arts takes every precaution to protect patients from any unnecessary radiation.

Digital x-rays are also faster, greener (no chemicals) and easier to share the images with other experts.

X-rays help Identify the following dental problems:

  • Abnormalities
  • abscess
  • Bone loss
  • Decay between the teeth and below gum level
  • Issues inside the tooth
  • Tumors/growth

New patients are encouraged to have a full mouth series of x-rays. The full mouth x-rays are good for 3-5 years and are transferable if taken at another facility. Bite wing x-rays are usually taken once a year as part of regular exam and cleanings. Panoramic radiographs are useful to evaluate the”big picture” of your oral condition and may be taken in lieu of a full mouth series.
